Not panicking.
::deep breaths::
So I thought 'About to post feedback on this fabulous dS fic obviously I need to go upload one of my ckr icons to use...
only to discover the file has disappeared. And when I investigate I find all of my folders are gone from my desktop. All my icons I made for me and there were a really lot!!! those for my friends, all the piccies I'd downloader to make current and future icons, my folder with all my completed fics (luckily I have them on an lj) and all my wips that I never could decide if I wanted to put out on the lj.
::sob::
And since I'm now in a crappy mood, I'm just gonna mention that people who think not capitalising at all is groovy are completely wrong. Because obviously my opinion is very important..
I noticed a disturbing trend yesterday and I'm very worried. I realised that apart from recs from my flist (thank god for
dorrie6) I haven't read much fic at all in weeks and weeks. And I know who to blame
metaquotes!! I'm addicted to this community. I check it nearly every time I'm online. (It's not on my flist because I have this thing where I can't stand my flist being cluttered up by high traffic communities - my actual friends get lost and my brain fries.)
So, metaquotes - good stuff gets quoted and then sometimes I have to check out the funny/wise/sarky person's other entries and I find I'm spending quite a lot of time surfing total strangers' lives. (hence the discovery of all these non-capitalising people)
Addictive personality, that's me. Remember last week
psycho_tabby recced that 'Sorry Everybody' site? I got through about 1200 piccies. But then I came to my senses. Not before making an icon of the nano-technologists from NC though. Cos they are too cute.
Also I like to check the 'Mock the Stupid' community occasionally. Mostly rubbish, but the occasional gem.
I managed to stay away from
customers_suck til yesterday though, cos I figured it was only make me hate customers more, but by yesterday I'd had three straight shifts where customers had been excessively rude and gave in and wallowed in all the stories of people dealing with even more crap than I do.
Want to hear about my customers?
*flist* 'oh god not again!!
*me* too bad
Yesterday a customer who was having a major sad because I wouldn't let her use a 2 for 1 coupon on an already discounted item. (apparently we should just give our food away) told me not to give her Attitude because, hey, she's the Customer!"
But my favourite is the customer who couldn't be arsed to wait for us to take her order at the speaker box and drove up to the window..I walk over.
Me *cheerful and friendly* Sorry, it just takes us a few seconds to get over to the machine to take your order (we don't have them fancy high tech headsets)
Customer *nastily* Well if you want my money you'll take my order here!
Me *stares*
*takes a moment*
*grits teeth*
Me *politely* What would you like to order?
Customer orders one thing and holds out a large bill which I take with out a word (as my teeth are still gritted). Customer asks aggressively how much her item is and I tell her.
Me *hands back change silently*
Customer - Manners! Manners!
Me *walks away*
I've learnt the hard way that the best thing to do with people looking to pick a fight is to be really really (insincerely) nice to them, so when I come back with her order I wish her a lovely day And close the window really fast.
