Combining it with electronics is where the problems arise. Even then, spilling it over a closed laptop would be unlikely to cause any harm. Spilling it into a laptop is more problematic, but simply removing the keyboard, wiping out all the liquid and drying it off with a hair dryer immediately would probably be fine. Leaving liquid in it to corrode the circuitry raises the likelihood of killing it permanently, no matter what someone does now.
