So, has LJ been buggy for other people for the last few weeks (maybe months) or is it just me. I randomly can't leave comments, like, I'll type it up but it refuses to post. That's been ongoing and random for ages. And tonight it won't let me access the profile page, gah.

Meanwhile I'm watching the s2 finale of Dark Matter and the crew are plotting with potential allies and half are poc and two thirds are women. God I love this show.

Also the dude who was the wolf in Lost Girl has shown up again and I went to point out to my housemate that both he and the Android were characters in LG together and then I remembered that they both played Bo's lovers. I think we accidentally stopped watching around s4, always meant to go back. I remember it being patchy, some great episodes, and some not really good ones, but the one that stood out was when they all randomly body swapped, and the actors did a really, really good job, especially the gender swapped ones.

I am hoping that either Bo and Lauren and Dyson either end up in a happy menage a trois or a threesome. Cute gif set here If I never watch the end, I'll never be disappointed, right?

From hiddenfacade...

1. Go to your "Journal" menu, and select "Journal Style"
2. To the right, you'll see what theme you're using, with a link stating "Customize Your Theme". Click that link.
3. Scroll down a little ways, and you'll see that on the left side of your screen, you have multiple options to modify your theme. Click on the "Custom CSS" link, and it should load the options for doing Custom CSS.
4. From here, all you have to do is go to the "Custom Stylesheet", and put in that line.

.b-repost-item {display:none}

once you have it pasted in there, save changes.

Feel free to PASS THIS ON!!

ETA: This prevents the "repost to FB/Twitter" ticky boxes from being displayed when someone comments on one of your posts. It seems to work, UNLESS the person is viewing your page in their own journal style, in which case it might not work.

ETA2: Inserting the code below in your custom CSS box reportedly works for more kinds of journal styles, including custom ones (this courtesy of [info]xnguard):

.b-repost-item, FORM#qrform > TABLE[style="border: 1px solid black;"]:last-child TD[style="vertical-align: top; text-align: right;"]:first-child { display: none !important; }

I'm pretty good at burying my head in the sand, la la what lj witchhunt? la la, but even I've noticed people starting to mention they've 'prepared' alternate journals 'just in case'.

Is it the beginning of the end? I hope not. But I expect I'll be making the most of my Paid account with yet more polls, and not renewing it next year unless this all goes away.

Meh, I've made 'em, and am starting to haphazardly friend people as they post links, so, like, whatever.

me at insanejournal.

me at greatestjournal

I'm kinda partial to insanejournal myself. The scantily clad blonde on the userpage looks pretty welcoming.

Does everyone know that LJ took it upon themselves to delete the journal with the hilarious review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

Apparently anything is game now.

[livejournal.com profile] astolat posted the link to the google cached page

Get it while it's hot!

EDIT: Apparently it's Scholastic that are the bad guys this time.

I am ljing from work. I nearly made it two months...

I'm on hold with IT at the moment, so I figure I may as well be on my lunch break. *gets out chocolate*
sarren: (Default)
Shit, an icon bar just appeared above me. No more pesky coding.  YAYS!!

Okay, how did I do that?

Things that made me happy today (yesterday, whatever)

Snuggling on the couch with the laptop. *pause* We're just good friends. Really.

LJ's new Beta Navigation.

This fic.

Jody staying over the weekend. Because she is fabulous. Also, she is in my room downloading songvids. Yes, it is 1.30am.

LJ is ODD today.

I did this post earlier, and hit update so I could proofread it on a friends page like I always do, realised I needed to lj cut it and also add a couple of things. So I did that, and then realised that something was phooey but I had to go do RL stuff so I changed it to private and went away. Came back now to realise I stuffed up and doubleposted and the completed, lj-cutted one was private and the stupid one wasn't. (I swear I hit Edit Entry)

SO. SORRY. About that.

And then I deleted the private one, changed the one that had already been commented on to be cut and complete, chucked it back on friendslock...and it didn't show up on my friends pages. AT ALL. So I've just publicked it and am hoping it's okay and running away to catch up on all the (2) Atlantis episodees I've missed....

It's not like it was important anyhow
sarren: (Default)
Okay, lj hates me again. Pages are randomly failing to load (it took me a couple of gos to get the update page) and everything is taking five times as long.

I thought I was just loopy with exhaustion on Sunday night when I was trying to write a coherent con report and the coding would just randomly fail. It took me more than two hours just to get that much down - I'd post it and check it over and something I'd just fixed would be unfixed again and then the next time it would be something I'd fixed a couple of tries ago *sigh* Somewhere in the middle of that lj went into read only mode for a while.

How do I fix this again, [livejournal.com profile] wobowikkles?
sarren: (Default)
Cos I'm nosy I did a Search of lj users in Perth who list slash as an interest. There were FORTYTHREE. And of those I only recognised five names, including mine. If my RL friends aren't listing it, and we're like, pretty keen, I wonder how many others lurk out there, all alone in the night.

*represses urge to yell*

So my email seems to be stuck downloading and pages aren't downloading. Is it the broadband? I think. Wouldn't be the first time. I'll just go check Dragonfly's computer, I think.

Not only is everything downloading perfectly but this problem I've been having for about ten days now? Where clinking on links and lj cuts and comments sends me to blank pages? Nu huh. Not on *this* computer.

*FUUUUCCCKKKK*

What the hell is wrong with my computer that it screws up only certain parts of LJ?

*plainitive* Help me.
sarren: (Default)
Usually on Thursday mornings I use lj to procrastinate about cleaning the floors, today I used cleaning the floors to procrastinate about writing the story. *sigh*

Last night [livejournal.com profile] special_trille and I were agreeing that it was probably a good thing that neither of us have easy internet access during work hours as we would both be the types who post hourly updates eg "My knee hurts". And that would be sad.

btw, I'm currently eating Nacho Cheese biscuits cos there's nothing else to eat in the house *ignores vegetables*

So, last night. Pride Quiz Night. I learned a lot. I learned that nobody at our table (not mentioning any names) knows anything about art, literature, science or politics. Pop culture, however, we ROCK at. Especially Star Trek - we won a prize for our knowledge of Star Trek.

*pause*

What?

Also, we sort of lost focus towards the end. I blame [livejournal.com profile] zebra363 for distracting me with hangman during the speechifying, but really, *looks at Jody and [livejournal.com profile] silver_b_a pointedly* playing during the rounds?

[livejournal.com profile] maharetr and [livejournal.com profile] farleigh_30 were also guilty there.

I have a cold and my voice is just a series of amusing squeaks at the moment.

Also, I have only three icons again, and I don't think I can cope.
sarren: (Default)
I don't know what I thought I was going to do with my live journal when I started it. I knew I didn't want my immediate family to know about it, and I certainly haven't told my lawyer friend or my federal cop friend, but I did give the addy to my sister in the US and my Mundane friend over East, cos I figured I'm crap at emailing, so if they ever have an urge to know what's going on in my life all they have to do is go have a look-see.

Now, neither of them ever expressed an interest or showed any signs they even remembered about it. Until the other day I get an email from my mate saying, 'have just caught up on your life from your lj'.

And I realise that no, she hasn't at all. Because I tend to friendslock most of my personal posts. So all she would have got from it was a whole lot of fan stuff, some of it quite obsessive.

*facepalm"

May as well have not bothered giving them the address in the first place.

Everyone knows about the paid users extra 2 weeks reimbursement for the power failure, right?

Um, here?

Real life?

I think it's possible I may be a bit...addicted to live journal.

There are so many things I want to do right now - thrill you all with my tales of this week's adventures, bond with [livejournal.com profile] thisisbone - whether she wants to or not, make more icons for [livejournal.com profile] emma_in_oz, read flist obsessively...

but unfortunately I'm being dragged kicking away and forced to have non-computer related fun down in Mandurah for the weekend...

so all that will have to wait!

sob
sarren: (Default)
So my scintillating post tonight wonders whether you can have seen the first 3 Star Wars films ad infinitum, and still state that you are Not Into the Fandom.

Thoughts inspired by the mud colour of my LJ at the moment, excitingly titled 'Jedi Cloak'

And then I go read [livejournal.com profile] ginmar's LJ and feel...awed.

And sort of smallish.
sarren: (Default)
I just went out the side door and there's a frick'n Huntsman!! Luckily for him he was in the dog's food bowl so I just tipped him over the neighbour's fence. Hey, they don't have small children.

And can I say, Western Power spokesman, blaming *us* for using our airconditioners during this heatwave... gotta admire their gall, if not their intelligence

I'm a proud Paid User now. Is *anyone* surprised that I cracked under the pressure?

So I go investigate some things I can do that I couldn't do before, and find I can access the directory to locate people by categories. So I look up Australians who list slash as an interest.

628. That's six hundred and twenty eight ljers in Australia who list slash as an interest.

GO US!!!!
sarren: (Default)
God I can't believe I'm considering paying real money just so I can play around more in this new obsession of mine. How many icons can one person really need at her fingertips. Do I really need to create my own style page? And how many times am I really going to post an entry over the damn phone?

DON'T anybody be helpful and point out other fun things paid account ljers get to do. I don't want more excusesreasons to throw money away on frivolous things.

I want to save my money for the important things, like the miniskirt, the cosmetic jewellery and the Lawrence of Arabia DVD I bought today. Yes, all bought today.

The Sales are on. I spent a blissful couple of hours wandering in and out of shops. Salespeople would approach and ask if there was anything in particular I was looking for and little dollars signs would appear in their irises when I would say that I just liked to buy things.
sarren: (Default)
So, I was thinking about why I've embraced live journalling so wholeheartedly.

It has *nothing* to do with icons, OKAY?

It feels like a community. (a really *big* community) Even when non-fannish topics are discussed, if I decide to follow the links, to be involved, I know that whatever views are expressed, I have some sort of connection with these people. Cos, really, fans (*especially* slashers) tend to be more openminded/liberal than Normals.

I can nearly hear all the BUTS. I'm talking about both my net friends and my real life experience of fans at cons -oddly, I hung around with the literary and media fans, not the Gamers, so the rest goes without saying.

Huh. So much for that high ideal openmindedness I was just espousing. But, in my defence, we've all met Gamers, right? Nuff said. Though there is this one boy, a Furry no less, who wears a dog collar that looks dead sexy on him, I can even live with the tail...

*clears throat* But enough about that.

So, talking about non fannish stuff (I do!) Okay talking about non fannish stuff that doesn't involve handbags, girly clothes or my health club. Or Bunny.

Hmm..

So anyway, read this article on the weirdness that is US politics and the amusing rebuttal at this ljer's site

http://www.livejournal.com/users/thebratqueen/390885.html?view=4736741#t4736741

and here's a scary article on Bush junior's idea of freedom of speech

http://www.livejournal.com/users/thebratqueen/391027.html#cutid1

Back to fans and their openmindedness, or lack thereof. Swancon last year. US fanguest, on a Smallville panel ostensibly run by poor little Jade who'd only seen 2 episodes and was soon cowed into quivering silence. So this guy, big Superman expert. Someone in the audience (a *guy*) mentions the subtext with Clark and Lex. Panellist response. "Not that slash rubbish!" and proceeds to ignore question. Bit later Trille comes out with a well thought out and detailed point (nothing slash related) to which he responded (paraphrasing heavily here) "I don't agree". And promptly changed the subject.

And on a lighter note, my second lj story rec. (I'm counting my hysterical ravings about Blood Magic)

This is the link to the sequel, also good, but from this page there's a link to 'Aliens Make Ford and Arthur Have Sex'

http://www.livejournal.com/users/imperfectcircle/14751.html?view=47263#t47263

I swear this author is channelling Douglas Adams.
